Two recommendations that will be forthcoming are in relation to creation of a career services consultant for the Graduate College and the creation of travel funds for graduate students (other universities have this - OU provides $250 per year). These funds will be helpful in the recruitment and retention of quality graduate students and this impacts GPSA's reputation at professional meetings. There are some departments which provide creative ways to support graduate travel. Chuck Edgley said that in the Sociology Department they teach large numbers of freshmen in an introductory class and they contract with a custom publisher to do a reader and everybody buys this reader and the royalties are earmarked for graduate assistants' travel.
