OSU Announces New Invention to Solve Global Pollution Problem Caused by Munitions Salvage and TNT Production

An OSU research team led by Dr. James Harmon has developed a functional prototype that uses only sunlight and a proprietary catalyst to detoxify water containing dissolved explosives created during the manufacture of TNT and when salvaging obsolete or unserviceable munitions. The device was demonstrated today during a news conference at the Wes Watkins Center. Officials said it provides a simple, low-cost, but very effective way to deal with an environmental problem that almost every nation has. MBA Students and Atherton Hotel ‘Build’ on OSU’s Reputation by Helping Stillwater Family

OSU MBA students Willis Holdeman, Cara Laverty, Shailendra Kumar and Greg Duffy deserve a pat on the back, as does the Atherton Hotel. The students recently used their construction and project management skills to renovate the family home of Carl and Deborah Krebs through Stillwater Habitat for Humanity. Using a skeleton crew of their classmates, local volunteers and Habitat for Humanity's Dr. Ron Beer, the volunteers made the home more wheelchair accessible for Mrs. Krebs. The students added a wider entry door, new wooden deck, ramp and other improvements – in just two days. The Atherton Hotel donated two nights lodging for the Krebs in their Presidential Suite during construction. When the work was finished, Merry Maids of Stillwater cleaned the house at no charge. The students are in Dr. Margaret White's graduate-level Project Management course.
