OSU Student Makes Cut for Prestigious Cinema Program

OSU Senior Sarah Conrad has been accepted into the prestigious Cinema Studies Program at New York University. Sarah graduates in May and will be moving to New York City to pursue master’s and Ph.D. degrees in cinema studies. The NYU film program only takes the nation’s top students. It has an acceptance rate of less than two percent. Sarah is the daughter of Gary Conrad and Vicki Conrad of Guthrie. She will graduate with a double major in film studies and public relations. She is currently marketing director for the ShowDown concert, which will feature Brooks & Dunn April 3 at 8 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU Students Will Showcase Research at Capitol

Four OSU students will join their colleagues from other Oklahoma campuses in showcasing their research at the State Capitol on Monday, March 29. Research Day is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and the National Science Foundation. OSU students Mary Elizabeth Womack, Ryan Scott (one of our latest Goldwater Scholars), David Belanger and Christopher M. White were all selected for the event.

OSU ROTC Groups Sponsor Events to Honor MIAs, POWs and Soldiers

Oklahoma State University's Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) is sponsoring several events March 30 and 31 to honor MIAs, POWs, and all military personnel, both veterans and those currently on active duty. The AFROTC will be joined by the OSU Army ROTC, active military personnel, veterans, National Guard members, Reservists, police and firefighters, as well as the general public. Activities begin with a ceremony and presentation of colors at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 30 at Lewis Field. After the ceremony, runners will travel to the OSU Library lawn where cadets will begin a running vigil in remembrance of all POWS and MIAs. The public is invited to join in both runs, especially in the short run from Lewis Stadium to the library and all other activities. A candlelight vigil will be held at midnight at Theta Pond. At noon the next day, March 31, a final ceremony with a 21-gun salute, will take place on the library lawn. For more information, contact Travis Neal, AFROTC, 918-633-1424.

Former Miss Arizona Will Discuss Eating Disorders

OSU will welcome Stacey Kole, former Miss Arizona and Miss USA finalist, for a program about eating disorders and body image issues. The program is Wednesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. It's free and open to the public. Kole's appearance is sponsored by SGA, RHA, Panhellenic Council, and Campus Crusade for Christ. Call 377-5411 for more info.

Alex is employed by the Information Technology Division and regularly performs vulnerability assessments of the university's computer systems. OSU Construction Management Technology students -- who recently represented Region V of the Associated Schools of Construction in the ASC/Associated General Contractors national student competition in Orlando, Fla. after beating competitors from Texas Tech, OU, LSU and Texas A&M. Sports: Tennis to Texas, Softball Sessions Set, Equestrians Expect Excitement

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team travels to Austin, Texas to play the Longhorns Saturday at 1 p.m. before going to Houston to face the undefeated and sixth-ranked Rice Owls Sunday at 2 p.m.
Oklahoma State Softball opens conference play against No. 22 Nebraska, hosting the Huskers for a two-game series this weekend at Cowgirl Stadium. The Cowgirls and Huskers kick off the series at 2 p.m., Saturday and close it out at 1 p.m., Sunday.
Oklahoma State's equestrian team travels to College Station Saturday to compete in the Zone VII Regional Championships at Texas A&M. For more sports information visit www.okstate.com.
