President to Participate in ‘You Never Know Who You’ll Meet on The Bus’ April 20

System CEO and President David Schmidly will ride The Bus as a celebrity passenger on Wednesday, April 20. The president, along with Chief of Staff Al Goodbary, will ride the Orange route from 10-11 a.m.  Students, faculty and staff can use this mobile town hall as an opportunity to discuss OSU issues with the president.  Look for special signs on the Orange route that denote which of the three Orange route buses will be carrying Dr. Schmidly. Spring Faculty Meeting April 19 to Feature Crucial Issues Update, Master Plan Info and Faculty Salary Survey

All faculty are invited to the annual Spring General Faculty Meeting April 19 at 3 p.m. in the Student Union Theater. Agenda items include a “State-of-the-University” address by OSU System CEO and President David Schmidly. The president will give an update on crucial issues facing the OSU System. Presentations also include an update on the OSU Master Plan from J. Clare Woodside and Doug Hartwig of the Benham Company, and an update on the OSU Faculty Salary Survey from Mark Payton, professor of statistics.  OSU administrators and faculty council members will respond to faculty questions, comments or concerns. =

OSU Educational Talent Search Director to Lead State Group

Deborah Evers, director of the OSU Educational Talent Search program at Oklahoma State University, was recently elected president-elect of her statewide organization. Evers will serve as conference chair for the 2006 state meeting and will assume responsibilities as president of the organization at that time. She will help guide a statewide organization of TRIO professionals who work in educational programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  Oklahoma has 81 programs that provide educational services to 27,323 students from sixth-grade level through college. TRIO programs encourage first-generation, low-income students to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. The programs provide services such as career counseling, academic advisement, personal and life skills development, college financial planning, technology skills and tutoring.

Wellness Wednesday Next Week Features ‘Fiscal/Fitness’ Program

The Seretean Center’s Wellness Wednesday program next week combines the fiscal with the physical. A session titled “Protecting Yourself from Internet Fraud” is scheduled at noon, April 20 at the Wellness Center. The program will feature Ed Boese, D.A.R.E. Officer from the Stillwater Police Department. ·        More than 7,000 spectators watched the Cowboys final spring football scrimmage Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium.

·    Women’s Equestrian qualified 10 individuals and its Western team for nationals this weekend in Ft. Collins, Colo.

·    Softball split weekend games against Kansas. The Cowgirls won 5-4 on Saturday, then fell 3-1, Sunday. The Cowgirls are 28-13 overall and 3-4 in Big XII play.

·        Cowgirl Tennis beat Boston College Sunday, 6-1, after falling Saturday to Virginia Commonwealth, 4-0.

·        Women’s Track and Field Junior Barbora Kuncova won the 3,000 meter steeplechase and set a school record this weekend at the Texas Relays.

·        Women’s Soccer closed out its spring season at 9-1, with a win over SMU Saturday.
