Zoology Student Gets Prestigious $10,000 NSF Grant

OSU zoology doctoral student Jerry Husak recently received a prestigious $10,000 National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant. Dr. Stanley Fox, OSU zoology professor, says the grant is the highest accolade a doctoral student in science in the United States can receive. The Victoria, Texas native will complete field work for his research project on collared lizards this summer. After he completes his Ph.D., Husak will likely take a post-doctoral position at the University of California/Berkeley and study the flying lizards (Draco) of Southeast Asia. He eventually hopes to be a professor and continue his research and teaching at the university level.

National Bus Mag Talks Up OSU Transit System

The OSU-Stillwater Community Transit System is the cover story in the April issue of BusRide magazine, a leading trade publication of the motorcoach tour, charter and transit bus industry. HES Director Is Outstanding Professional of the Year

Lance Robertson, director of the College of Human Environmental Sciences University Outreach, was recently selected as the Outstanding Professional of the Year for the 2004 Achievements in Aging Awards. The awards recognize individuals, educators, advocates, media representatives, programs and businesses making outstanding contributions on behalf of older Oklahomans. Robertson was selected for work he has done in the field of aging, particularly with the Replenishing the Caregiver program, PartnerShips for Aging, the Technology Learning Center Project, the Ethics & Aging Conference Series and other programs. Additionally, the "Technology Learning Center" project, under Robertson's direction, was selected as Outstanding Program of the Year.

New OSU-Okmulgee Programs Get Noticed by Students

OSU-Okmulgee reports an increase in projected student enrollments for fall 2004 based on a number of new programs added to meet workforce demand for highly-skilled workers. Current OSU-Okmulgee students and graduating high school seniors are requesting information and admission to three new bachelor of technology degree programs and a registered nursing program.

Philosopher Will Talk About Love

The OSU Philosophy Department and Friends of the Forms are hosts for Lydia Moland, assistant professor of philosophy at Babson College in Massachusetts, for a lecture/discussion on "the character of love." The talk is scheduled in the fourth-floor Student Union Exhibit Room Two, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. The lecture is free, and the public is invited. For more information, contact Ed Lawry at 744-9242.

SAC Sponsoring Carnation Sales for Admin-Professional Day

The OSU Staff Advisory Council is again sponsoring carnation sales to raise money for the Staff Scholarship Fund. April 21 is Administrative Professionals Day, and you can order individual flowers or different-sized bouquets. The deadline to place orders is April 15. Flowers will be delivered on April 20.
