OSU IT Division One of Only Two in Higher Ed Chosen for Worldwide Oracle Project

The Oracle Corporation has selected OSU's Information Technology Division to collaborate on an opportunity for early adoption of Oracle’s new grid computing technology. Oracle has invited OSU, along with ten other organizations worldwide, including Dell and the Chicago Stock Exchange, to participate in an aggressive implementation of Oracle’s new grid computing technology. The technology allows grids of computers to work as single databases. Oracle currently has engineering staff working with OSU IT staff on a rapid implementation schedule. OSU’s aggressive stance in developing new technologies for its users makes the university an ideal candidate for involvement in early adoption. While OSU is one of ten organizations, it is one of only two higher education institutions chosen. The second was Vanderbilt University.
