Civil War Expert Speaks at OSU Colloquium

Dr. James Huston, Oklahoma State University associate professor of history, will present a talk titled, "Property Rights and the Coming of the Civil War," at the OSU Geography Colloquium to be held at 3:30 p.m., Mon., March 30 in OSU Human Environmental Sciences 236.

Houston received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. Huston's areas of expertise include the Civil War, the Reconstruction Acts period and economic history.

At OSU he teaches the American history survey, the era of the Civil War and Reconstruction, American economic history, and, on occasion, undergraduate studies in historiography.

Huston has produced numerous scholarly articles and is currently working on a project to delineate the economic origins of the American Civil War.

The OSU Geography Colloquium is a faculty seminar series sponsored by the OSU Department of Geography. The university community and general public are invited to attend, said Dr. Brad Bays, event coordinator.
