STILLWATER – Oklahoma State University student and faculty volunteers at Saturday’s football game at Boone Pickens Stadium collected $44,000 in donations for the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
“Like the rest of the world, we are shocked and saddened by the destruction and displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina,” said OSU System CEO and President David Schmidly. “We thank our OSU family and fans for their generous support and we are pleased we can help in any way possible.”
In addition to Saturday’s effort, OSU is supporting relief efforts in a number of ways, including waiving tuition and fees for affected students enrolling at OSU, sending doctors from the OSU Center for Health Sciences to assist with medical needs at Camp Gruber in Oklahoma, and conducting a number of donation efforts.
